The Mother Lode Ragtime Society is already in high gear, plotting and planning for next year’s Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival, to be held August 14-16, 2009. Billed as California’s best small ragtime festival, Sutter Creek delivers!

Here’s a sneak preview of what to expect from this, the 11th Annual Festival.

Sutter Creek will be jumping with sparkling solo sets, the festival extravaganza concerts, mixed sets featuring the talents of several festival artists, Silent Movie Night, a Saturday Youth Concert, plus all the hilarity and good music spilling on into the After Hours sessions where there is always a surprise player or two.

Invited performers include Patrick Aranda, Andrew Barrett, the Bradshaws, Tom Brier, the Carl Sonny Leyland Trio, The Crown Syncopators, the Drivons, Marty Eggers, Frederick Hodges, Vincent Johnson, Carl Sonny Leyland, Larisa Migachyov, Will Perkins, Stevens Price, the Ragnolia Ragtette, the Raspberry Jam Band, Tim Rotolo, Hal Smith, Monty Suffern, Keith Taylor, Alan Thompson Jr., Virginia Tichenor, and the Town Square Harmonizers.

Early Bird Special All Events Badges are on sale for $60 before July 15th and $70 after. Daily badges and concert tickets are also available. There will be a $20 service charge for refunds requested prior to 7/15/09; no refunds after 7/15/09.

A pre-festival “open piano” event will take place on Thursday, August 13th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Greenhorn Creek Resort, 711 McCauley Ranch Road, near Angels Camp. All are welcome. Come and hear some of the festival performers warming up for a lively weekend. Others wishing to play, may do so in this “open piano” setting. Greenhorn Creek Resort is a great place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a musical evening.

If you just come up for one day, make it Saturday, when all the performers will be there, and plan to stay for the evening concert and dance. There is plenty of parking at each end of this quaint and picturesque town.
